ME

By Simon
In 2015 I completed my BA hon's Degree in Contemporary Arts Practice at Bath University. My dyslexic mind enables me to see alternatively, bringing forth another realm of appreciation. My practice is often abstract or is abstracted by altering its context. I enjoy building into my work aspects which can take the viewers interpretation beyond their initial understanding  My formative years working on Rolls-Royces gave me an insight to how an object works in isolation or in unison with its surrounding. Colour coded electrical systems and hydraulic pipe work fed my enjoyment of geometric patterns and form.

Geometric: My interest with shapes and lines is the way the eye is drawn around the image. Perspectives can be altered  depending upon which lines are referenced. Where I have used multiple colours, by selecting one the dynamics of the image structure changes.

Built; This series of images were made while I recovered from an operation to repair a tendon I'd cut in my hand. Unable to continue my normal practice I struggled to even take photos, as I had to hold the camera upside down. I became confined to my computer.
I reviewed my photo library and selected single images to construct from. The resulting images vary. from subdued to dazzling, the frequency of some images require the viewer to adjust their vision and view the image as a whole. (Each Archival print is limited to an edition  of 30; 40x40cm, inc boarder. £75 each)

Lightscapes; Environments made of light which give a sense of space. As a theatre set creates a location with context, these Lightscapes evolve through the context perceived by the viewer.  ( Similar to Thomas Wilfred's work )
